About Dirang

A small hill station located in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, Dirang is a town with very rich tourism potential. The town of Dirang is located at a distance of around 42 kms. from Bomdila and 142 kms. from Tawang. Located at an altitude of 1497 meters (4911 feet) which rather much less compared to its nearby town such as Tawang and Bomdila, the climatic conditions of the towns are more or less same.

The entire town of Dirang stands along the river Dirang that runs parallel to the highway of the town. The houses in the town are scattered all along the town with cultivate fields and pine trees running around them.

Tourism in Dirang

Being a part of a state which is so ethereal, the town definitely keeps up to the beauty of the entire region. Drowned underneath the halo of Buddhism, the town has its own serene sense of peacefulness which can be felt the moment one sets foot in the city. National Research Centre on Yak

A research centre founded by Indian Council of Agricultural Research with the sole intention of conserving the species of Yak in the region, the National Research Centre on Yak is an interesting tourist spot in Dirang. Located at a distance of around 31 kms. away from Dirang, the centre is located at an amazing place surrounded by the Himalayas.

Different types of researches are conducted in the centre related to Yak and Yak products and for its improvement. Tourists are allowed to visit the centre only on getting permission.

Dirang Dzong

A tribal inhabited area in the shores of Dirang River, Dirang Dzong is a place which is very beautifully designed making it a place of tourist attraction. So old is the colony that some of the houses in it are more than 500 years old. The base of the houses was very strong making it stand against the hostility of the weather of the region.  The fort here known as Dzong reflects the influence of Buddhist culture in the area with its architectural designs. The fort, inspite of it being in ruins is a wonderful proof of the Buddhist architectural excellence and is a preservation of its ancestry. The view one gets from Dirang Dzong is spectacular.

Hot Water Spring in Dirang

Another of the great tourist spots in Dirang, this hot water spring is a miracle for hot water falls into the river Dirang. Due to the high content of sulphur and its curative powers, people visit the spring. In winters the bath in the hot water is like a boon. Tourists in huge numbers can be seen taking dips inside this pool.

Sangti Valley

At a distance of 7 kms away from Dirang, the location of Sangti valley in Dirang is a place of beauty beyond description. Surrounded by dense forests and rivers, Sangti valley is a place one goes to have some quiet and serenity. It is a paradise for bird lovers for different species of birds can be viewed in the valley. Kalachakra Gompa

Kalachakra, a village in Dirang has a monastery by the name of Kalachakra Gompa. A monastery which is over 500 years old is visited by Buddhists from world wide as well as by people of other religion to see the magnificent piece of wonder. The serene atmosphere around the monastery gives one a very peaceful and quiet mind and soul freeing one of all the troubles of life. One of the most visited tourist spots in Dirang, the monastery is turning into a hotspot of Arunachal Pradesh.

Other wonderful places worth visiting in Dirang are Regional Apple Nursery, Progeny Orchard, Orchid centre  at Jyotinagar, Palyul Changchub Dhargyeling Nyingma Monastries and Kiwi Farms. One not only gets to witness the beauty of the place but also gets the chance to indulge in different activities like trekking, bird watching, camping, etc.
